As of June 2021, the government in England & Wales have committed to raising the legal age of marriage to 18 years old. Currently, you can legally get married in England & Wales if you are 16 or 17 years old with parental consent. In some cases, this has regrettably led to minors being coerced into marriage, often being deprived of education in doing so.
The progression of the bill is currently awaited.
