Denise specialises in serious and complex criminal cases. Many of her clients are young people. She regularly acts for defendants accused of participation in gang related crime, including drugs supply and violence. She has acted in a number of high profile joint enterprise murder cases, frequently securing acquittals. Denise also has experience in defending fraud and terrorism allegations.
Prominent Cases
- R v SA- Murder - Joint enterprise murder secured an acquittal at the end of the prosecution’s case, where judge stated there was no case to answer.
- R v DO - Gang related murder- Involved seven defendants- Acquittal
- R v JD - Possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life- The defendant wanted to plead to possession of the firearm at an early stage. CPS proceeded with the intent and defendant was unanimously acquitted of intent and sentenced to the minimum term for possession of a firearm.
- R v BS -Threats to Kill & Possession of an offensive weapon- 3 handed case where it was alleged to have followed a female of known gang member-Acquittal for her defendant, a hung jury for the other two defendants.
- R v MA & AS - Million-pound fraud- Heavyweight fraud involving the Royal Mail.
- R V DS - GBH- Acquittal
- R V FH - Youth client charged with Burglary with an adult. Representations made for lesser offence and CPS accepted. The case returned back to the youth court for sentencing.
